Yoshihiro WATANABE
1989-, Kumamoto prefecture
Named “OrihaR” (meaning folded leaf), the works of Watanabe show staggering levels of imagination and dexterity of the hands that create them. The materials used are fallen oak leaves, which Watanabe collects every November when they fall. Does he have a specific blue print for construction in his mind? We do not know for sure, but his confident and quick hand movements when deftly folding these leaves would suggest he does. He started creating at around age 10, and he also likes to create cutout pictures.
