August De Puysseleir
1958-, Geel, Belgium
August De Puysseleir creates gesso prints in which he combines both selfmade photographs and found imagery, resulting in multiple layers of meaning between the images. A theme that often reappaers in the works of De Puysseleir are birds. They refer to his mother who passed away. On her ‘funeral card’ there was a quote about birds. Ever since, the birds remind De Puysseleir of his mother and he sees them as a sign. De Puysseleir is autodidact. He combines his acquired skills, like his meticulous way of working or his eye for detail, to make his art.
